What I love about painting a dog is the challenge of capturing their unique personality and spirit. I strive to create paintings that completely capture your dog’s unique personality, including all those little nuances that will instantly take owners back to the times they had together. In that way, I see my style as trying to be as realistic and detailed as possible within the medium of painting. In regards to technical aspects, when I create a portrait, I like painting with acrylics and the surface that works best for me is Ampersand’s Pastelbord.
Additional fine art paper prints or reproductions on canvas of your painting can be ordered for family or friends, or even for your office. Our canvas prints are provided by a professional giclee printer and are almost indistinguishable from the original painting.
The most important step in this process is taking and choosing the right photo that expresses the character of your pet best. I work directly from one photo of your pet and because of this, the better the photo…the better the painting. So, a good picture of your pet is a MUST.
If you would prefer that I take take the photos, I would love to meet your pet and take the photos myself. If that isn’t possible, you can send digital images to me as attachments with your request for a Commission, and I’ll check to see if they will work. If you would prefer to send pictures by mail, please DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL COPIES as I cannot return them.
If you would like to take your own photos of your dog, you may want to look over our Picture Tips that we put together. They may help make your photo session more successful.
